Romain Laffue

Profile:

Romain Laffue is a photographer from the Basque Country who has spent time honing his craft in big cities like Paris and Bordeaux. There’s a special kind of dedication required to “capture the moment” when it's an avalanche of water 50ft tall, but he’s (nearly) as comfortable shooting the big waves of Belharra as he is a profile shot for a magazine.

He’s now based back in Biarritz - although his work takes him to locations far and wide. He’s a master of the craft, a lensman with diverse skills who excels at capturing portraits, landscapes, action and emotion.

From the wildness of remote tropical locations, to the intensity of the traditional Basque sport of pelote, Romain has an eye that’s trained on getting the shot. He’s in high demand locally, working with publications such as Hotdogger Magazine and public entities such as the Agglomeration of Pays Basque.

When he’s not shooting the world around him, he’s staying active; surfing, playing Pelote and enjoying life in the region. These passions have led him to work with professional foiler Matt Etxebarne and the Jaialai Club of St Jean de Luz among many others.

He’s very happy being based in the Pays Basque and travelling where his work takes him.
